![]() Needless to say, if your new association with Extensis should result in the production of a font manager that brings together the versatility of ATR, Suitcase and ATM rolled into one, that would sweep away the competition. Searching the InDesign and Illustrator forums is a little more problematic in that the Macintosh and Windows forums of each have now been merged into one platform-agnostic forum. If you check out the Photoshop Macintosh forum, you'll find a near-consensus on FAP. Its automatic and on-the-fly font activation is flawless. It catches many bad fonts that Font Doctor and Font Book miss. One of the main reasons that FAP (FontAgent Pro) is the most recommended font manager in the Mac World is its unparalleled ability to ferret out duplicate, corrupted, damaged or otherwise problem fonts. I do have a license for one of the early versions of Suitcase for OS X but have not used it for some time, ever since switching to FAP. I've lost sight of the application for a few versions now. Some versions have been downright lethal as far as bugs and instability. Of course, the combination of ATM and ATR blew Suitcase out of the water, and what happened to Suitcase in the transition to OS X was a tragedy. Read this post by a forum host for advice on how to ask your questions with a modicum of correctitude:Īs a very early beta tester of Suicase in the days when it was a one-man operation, before Steve Brecher sold it, I count myself as one of the early, ardent supporters of Suitcase. We're all users just like you, trying to help each other out.ĭon't expect any help from me in the future if I recognize your user name. If you visit any of those forums, most users will recommend FAP over any other font manager. Photoshop questions belong in the Photoshop Macintosh forum. Illustrator questions belong in the Illustrator forum. It has nothing to do with Adobe Type.įont Book questions belong on the Apple discussion boards. ![]() No one has any obligation to answer any question in these user-to-user forums, most especially when they are in the wrong forum.įont management on the Mac is an Apple issue, just like font management on Windows is a Microsoft issue. You asked three questions, NONE of which falls into the category of Adobe Type, and I went out of my way to be polite. I stand to gain nothing and I couldn't even care less about what you do or how you solve your problems. ![]() I have no connection whatsoever to FontAgent Pro or its developers other than that of a satisfied customer. So if anyone can help me on an issue that I have never had to deal with before I would be extremely grateful, thankyou. In all my years as a photoshop user though I have never ever heard of this. I am only asking this because someone sometime ago said to me that sometimes problems exist if you have too many fonts loaded in one go into cs3. Thirdly, please: If my wife wants to have say only 30 or forty fonts loaded up with illustator at a given time how on earth does this work. My second question is this: What on earth is the difference between having a folder named 'collection' and a folder named 'library' in the fontbook.app? There is no explanation for this in help or online. I was told by an adobe professional that illustrator doers not install fonts, well this is absolute rubbish after my experiences. We have NEVER downloaded fonts, never imported them, never imported other documents. But there are 6 to 8 fonts missing still. I re-booted normally and opened fontbook, fonts went up to 120. I uninstalled all adobe creative suite 3 and re-installed via safeboot and suddenly fonts started to come back, from 19 to 40. I did an archive and install, several cleans of the machine, all permissions were always good, they did not return. Recently my wife lost 110 fonts over a few months from illustrator, they just started to dissappear mysteriously. I have trawled the internet looking for help - none, I have searched the help of fontbook that comes with apple tiger - absolutley useless in every degree. I am new to this whole area of fonts and need some advice please.
